Patchwork Jeans

Mariko Carskaddan

This project was my first attempt at upcycling clothing. I had a pair of jeans that didn't fit me well in the legs, so I cut down the sides and collected scraps of fabric to sew and add to the sides of the pants. There is something so rewarding about taking the time to sew your clothing and wear it out in the world, as the piece becomes an expression of yourself. By adding just a pop of color, I feel my jeans further reflect my personality and are now one of my favorite clothing items.
