Bene Nulla.

Kate Lawson

Hi! I'm Kate, and I love poems! This is a stream of consciousness that I came up with during a 5:30pm lecture a few days ago. Hopefully someone speaks Latin and can remind me what the title means.

My ocean science professor drinks

A 12 oz bottle of Coke Zero every day

Plastic bottle with a red labeled

text box when I slept through the submission

dead line calling at 10 post meridiem

Carpe! Bene nulla. mallem dormire

because my roommate won’t shut the freezer

door swings open when I close

minded people piss me off but open minds

the gap at the train station which is how

do you think my science professor gets to school ?

days are too long, but she tells me life is too

many pieces of plastic in the ocean it’s turning brown

bubbles trying to burst that lukewarm bottle

cap in my pocket from last week end

it with that guy, he’s got no drive

home from work to sit in class with

My science professor, who drinks Coke Zero

From a plastic bottle, even though

There is too much plastic in the ocean.
